Eve Is Engaged to British Designer Maximillion Cooper!

Maximillion Cooper, Eve I
Eve's love is going the distance.
The singer-actress is engaged to British designer and Gumball 3000 founder Maximillion Cooper, E! News exclusively confirms.
Eve's rep tells us that Cooper popped the question on Christmas Day, the sparkly evidence of which was first spied on Instagram in a photo in which she's surrounded by family—and flashing a diamond ring!
The pic prompted an immediate flood of speculative congratulations from fans, none of which the entertainer denied. In fact, she responded with heart emojis!
"#familytime!!!! Me and my mom and my lil brother Farrod just got to the English country side," wrote the artist born Eve Jeffers, what turned out to be a very revealing caption.
"Feel so#blessed to be with my family and sharing my life here. I pray that you bring 2014 in with people you #love. And nothing but #good #energy."
Cooper was born in Staffordshire, England. He and Eve have been splitting their time between the U.S. and London.
This will be the first trip down the aisle for Eve. Cooper, who has been dating the former Ruff Ryders rapper since at least 2011, has four children from his previous marriage.
Cooper is also the founder of the international motor rally known as Gumball 3000, in which more than 100 exotic cars are driven around the world, via a different route each year, by way of public streets. This year's 15th-anniversary rally went from Copenhagen to Monaco.
Eve, who in addition to sharing a Grammy with Gwen Stefani for the hit tune "Let Me Blow Ya Mind," is best known for her work on the big screen in Barbershop and xXx and on TV in her own sitcom Eve.
Cooper posted pics from their very festive-looking Christmas in Edinburgh together.
"#EVE #christmas overload! #christmastree#decorations #lights #icicles #presents #edinburgh#happyholidays @therealeve," he wrote on one. And on another: "My lil' #scottish #Eve in #edinburgh #boxingday#mulledcider #happyholidays."
Congratulations to the happy couple!

'We want a real black king for Christmas'

'We want a real black king for Christmas'

I posted about Spanish christmas traditions earlier. Now you know that the spanish kids get and open their christmas presents on january 5th. You also now know that there is usually a three wise men parade on that day. Did you know that one of the three wise men in the Bible was a black man? So the Spanish always make sure to paint a white man to play that role in the parade. But it seems the Spanish have had enough of that. Why paint a white man when a black man can play that role they said? Read on.....

Residents of numerous Spanish cities and towns are demanding that 'real black' men be hired to play King Balthazar in their traditional January 5th Christmas parades.

Online petition site charge.org has been used as the main gateway for the campaign against white Wise Men with their faces painted black.
"It makes no sense in this day and age that King Balthazar is played by a white gentleman," wrote Miguel Calabria, head of the Madrid campaign.
"Fortunately, with all the diversity that now exists in our society, it’s neither necessary nor logical."
"Our children aren't stupid," reads another petition.
"They notice that Balthazar’s face is painted black and they don't understand."

Thousands of Spaniards have voted in favour of a ‘real black’ king for the January 5th Christmas parades of Pamplona, Malaga, Tudela, Villena, Llobregat and Madrid.
La Cabalgata de Reyes is a traditional Christmas parade held in most towns and cities in Spain on the eve of King’s Day – Epiphany- when Spanish children receive most of their presents.

The three Kings Parade in Spain

I´ve been living in Southern Spain for the last 3 years and I have learned so many things here. Many of their traditions are really similar to my Peruvian traditions so I was not that shocked with the change. We already knew that kids receive their presents from the Three Kings on January 6, not in Christmas as most kids in the world do, so we had to adapt to this tradition too!!!! But what we really enjoy was all the expectation caused by the Three Kings arrival to Spain. (They are also known as The Wise Men or The Three Kings of East)
All the people here, kids and adults, wait for this day to arrive. It is actually celebrated the night of January 5, the day before the feast of Epiphany. They wait for The Wise Men to make an appearance in their city in an amazing parade called "La Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos". Every big city and even small towns celebrate this important event, when the Three Kings finally arrive to adore Baby Jesus and offer their gifts to the son of God. It is believed that one of the first Parades was celebrated on January 5, 1866 in the town of Alcoy.
The Wise Men arrived to the different towns and cities in beautiful carriages along with their servants who start throwing candies, chocolates and even toys to the thousands of kids and adults that spend hours waiting for their arrival. The first one to arrive is usually King Melchior, then King Gaspar and finally the youngest one, King Balthazar. Streets are beautifully decorated since the beginning of the season but are well organized for the Kings Parade to be a success.
Most parades are covered by local broadcasting companies, so you can enjoy not only your local parade but also enjoy simultaneously the different parades around Spain. This parades usually start around 6:00 pm and finish around 9:00 pm. Soon after that, kids go to sleep early to wait for the Kings to visit their home and leave some presents. If they were bad kids they will receive candy coal, but if they were good kids they will receive what they asked on their letter to the Wise Men. After opening their presents the whole family enjoy their breakfast with the traditional "Roscon de Reyes" a delicious rounded bread with fruits, jelly and even whipped cream. This is actually the end of all the Spanish's Christmas celebrations.
The first time I attended a "Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos" with my kids I had so much fun, I felt like a little kid too!!! I enjoyed not only looking to their happy faces but also enjoyed watching people from all ages singing Christmas carols and also dancing in the streets. If you ever have the chance to visit Spain for Christmas time, do not miss the opportunity to enjoy this Parade, is an experience you will never forget!!
and finally, after the parade we enjoy the king,s cake or roscon de reyes
and finally, after the parade we enjoy the king,s cake or roscon de reyes

History of the Three Kings of the East

According to the Gospel of Matthew here I quote the arrival of the Three Kings:
In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, asking, "Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage." When King Herod heard this, he was frightened, and all Jerusalem with him; and calling together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. They told him, "In Bethlehem of Judea; for so it has been written by the prophet: 'And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who is to shepherd my people Israel.'" Then Herod secretly called for the wise men and learned from them the exact time when the star had appeared. Then he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, "Go and search diligently for the child; and when you have found him, bring me word so that I may also go and pay him homage." When they had heard the king, they set out; and there, ahead of them, went the star that they had seen at its rising, until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw that the star had stopped, they were overwhelmed with joy. On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country by another path.
There are actually different versions of where they came from.  Many people believe that they came from Babylonia or Persia or even from Egypt.  There is no official documentation that could prove where exactly they came from.  Our christian Church recognizes the following names for the Wise Men: Melchior, Gaspar and Balthazar.

Spanish Christmas Traditions

spanish christmas traditionsThe Christmas holiday season in Spain is a truly magical affair. Although it doesn’t get going until seemingly the last minute, the Spanish throw themselves whole heartedly into the spirit of things and the festivities finally culminate on the 6th January.
The true mark of the beginning of Christmas in Spain is the Spanish national lottery draw held on December 22nd. ‘El Gordo’ or the fat one, is so called because it is the largest national lottery in the world with the total prize fund running into billions and it also has the best odds of winning. The draw takes place throughout the whole morning and the whole nation tunes in to watch the very elaborate drawing of the numbers. The tickets can cost up to 200 euros so many people club together to buy a share, although there are those who put aside a saving fund, sometimes up to 1000 euros to buy a few tickets for the family. The lottery draw is the moment when Christmas comes to Spain, this symbolic tradition has been going for centuries and Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without it.
Once the lottery draw has been made, the festivities really begin, students and children break up for the holidays and lights, decorations and trees suddenly appear overnight. The traditional Christmas decoration for a true Spanish Christmas is the ‘belén’ or nativity scene. Just like other countries across the world, where Christmas trees take centre stage in town and village squares, each town and village has its own belen. Some of these scenes are breathtakingly beautiful and elaborate and can be visited in town halls and churches across the land. Even personal ones can take over whole rooms in the house and just with the Christmas tree it is a magical family time spent putting it together and adding all the little touches. As well as the traditional religious characters and popular local scenes, one special character is paramount to the Spanish belen. He is known as ‘el Cagón’ and to be polite, he is a figure in a squat position doing a poo! His presence symbolises the fertilisation of the land for the coming year but of course provides much amusement for the children. Although an important and historical figure in the belén, he has been banned from public nativity scenes in many towns by local governments so as not to cause offence . . .
Just like other Christmas celebrations, here in Spain it is a time to gather the family together and celebrate with a meal. The main Christmas meal in Spain is held on Christmas Eve or ‘Noche Buena’
The meal on the eve of the 24th is the most important meal in the Spanish calendar and is always held in the evening, many people won’t even start until after midnight as the old saying goes, ” Esta noche es Noche Buena, y no es de dormir” this night is the Good Night, and is not meant for sleeping”
Generally, the celebrations usually begin early evening when friends and family meet in bars for a drink before returning home for the main event. Like most Christmas meals, the Spanish one involves a lot of preparation, many courses, lots to drink and lasts all night.
spanish christmas brandyYou can expect to find a large array of mouth watering seasonal delights at the table during the meal. Popular foods for starters or appetisers are shellfish and cold cuts of meat which are usually followed by soup and then another fish dish. A traditional one is ‘besugo’ which is baked bream but you may also find lobster, crab, salmon, hake, sea bass or trout. Then for the main course the traditional roast is lamb or sucking pig although duck, or turkey served with truffles are becoming more popular. Dessert is traditionally a selection of sweets and cakes such as marzipan, ‘polvorones’ a sweet kind of bread or Spanish turrón which is nougat made with sweet toasted almonds and has been made in Spain for centuries. The only drink to accompany your meal is Cava, the Spanish equivalent of champagne which many say is far better than its French counterpart.
Another must do for a true Spanish Christmas is midnight mass which people go to either before or after the meal, depending on the time they eat. Christmas midnight mass in Spain is known as ‘La Misa del Gallo’ or ‘Rooster Mass’ because the rooster was the first to announce the birth of Christ. Once the meal and mass is over, people return home to exchange gifts. Children will often only receive a small gift as ‘Papa Noel’ is less popular than the Three Kings who arrive on 5th January with presents for all the children. The evening, or morning, usually ends in a bar or disco where whole families gather to party and celebrate once the family festivities are over.
Christmas day is a quiet affair and the quietest in the Spanish calendar. People meet up for a walk or a drink and while many continue the celebrations with a meal in a restaurant, most people are still recovering from the evening before. In Catalonia, there is a wonderful Christmas day tradition which goes by the name of “El Tio.” Basically a decorated log or tree trunk is ‘fed’ with sweets and other goodies during the few days before Christmas and then on the day, children sing the traditional catalan Christmas song and beat El Tio with a stick when he produces sweets and other delights for all the family.
Shortly after Christmas day on December 28th there is another curious celebration unique to Spain called ‘The Day of the Innocents.’ Although the origins of this fiesta lie in murders of women and children committed by Herod in Judea, modern day celebrations are similar to those of April fools Day on a much larger scale. Newspapers print ridiculous stories and even prominent political figures get involved. Never believe anything you see or hear on this day and watch your step carefully!

New Year’s Eve or ‘Noche Vieja’ in Spain is celebrated much like everywhere else with a few unique exceptions. It is apparently tradition to wear red underwear which must be bought for you by someone else (although I’ve never been brave enough to check this one out for myself). Another great and long standing tradition is ‘las doce uvas’ or the twelve grapes. At the stroke of midnight, one grape must be eaten with each chime of the bell or clock, anyone who manages all twelve are said to have good luck throughout the coming year. It is a tradition taken very seriously by many Spanish people and while some of us are still struggling at ten past twelve, there are lots of people well practiced in the art. Preparation is everything though, I remember helping to peel and deseed enough grapes for ten people last year . . . you can buy ready prepared grapes in tins but it is not the same somehow.
Once the grapes have been eaten and multiple kisses bestowed, the party really begins. Again, whole families from the young to the old can be seen in bars and discos celebrating the beginning of the New Year until the early hours.
spanish christmas traditions tapasFor Spanish children, the best days of the festive season have to be the 5th and 6th of January. While the rest of us are packing away the trees and tired decorations, Spanish children everywhere are preparing for the arrival of the Three Kings. In Spain it is not Santa who brings the children their presents, but the Three Kings or ‘Los Reyes Magos’. On the 5th January, the eve of Epiphany children go to local parades which herald the arrival of the Three Kings. Each village parade consists of decorative floats with a variety of themes and sweets and streamers being thrown into the crowds. At the end of the parade, children get the opportunity to ask the Three Kings for their chosen gift and then leave their shoes out overnight in which their gift will be placed. In many villages though, the parade of the Three Kings culminates in a gathering at the local church or school hall where each child’s name is called out and they receive a small gift. The day of the 6th January is a national holiday, much like Christmas Day, when children wake up to presents left by the Three Kings.
The typical dessert of the day is called “Rosca de los Reyes” and is a home baked ring style bread decorated with coloured jellies to symbolise the jewels worn by the three Kings. Inside is hidden a small surprise similar to what we find in Christmas crackers. Anyone lucky enough to find the hidden surprise may be crowned King or Queen for the day!
Christmas celebrations in Spain are fantastic and what I like is the way things are not commercialised as they are in the UK for example. Walking down the road at the beginning of December, you would hardly notice that Christmas is round the corner, there are very few Christmas adverts on TV and it seems ages before lights and decorations go up. However once the fever takes over, you are spoiled by the generosity of Christmas spirit bestowed on you by the locals, you get free gifts in the shops and free tipples in the town hall, lights and decorations appear as if by magic, there is music to be heard and people seem to suddenly take to the streets and squares just to wish you well and enjoy the atmosphere which goes on right until January.
The 6th January marks the end of the Christmas celebrations in Spain and then like everywhere else, it’s back to the same old routine. But don’t worry the next fiesta is just around the corner . . .

Overcoming Racism In An Interracial Relationship

Stop and Frisk, a controversial policing policy in New York City, becomes real when it enters your home. The neighborhood of Crown Heights, where I live with my boyfriend Elijah, has seen an increase in the amount of law enforcement on the street. In fact, the NYPD likes to stand on our roof to make sure no unwanted trespassers find their way up.

My boyfriend, an immigrant from Guyana, of Sudanese decent, is one of those trespassers. While I am away, he climbs the stairs to our roof to look out toward the Manhattan skyline, a luxury in our 115-year-old building with few actual amenities. Upon reaching the roof, he is greeted by two NYPD officers. They tell him he is trespassing. He gently explains that he lives in the building. They tell him not to move, flashing lights on his face. They ask for his ID. They give him a 50-dollar ticket and tell him to leave the premises. He tries not to become angry. It will only make things worse. He walks back downstairs to our apartment and slams the door behind him.

This feeling of being unwanted in one's own home is mentally and emotionally stressful. Elijah has lived in New York City since he was quite young; I have only been there three years -- I am greeted with open arms by developers, as a white outsider, while the natives of many Brooklyn neighborhoods are pushed out, for racial, cultural and economic reasons.

I want to get away. I want to take Elijah to a place of warmth, a place that offers me unconditional acceptance. The holiday season approaches and I want to share with him my family. Yet, after two years of dating, I already know that my home in Providence, Rhode Island, my family there, considers him a trespasser too.

Two winters ago my parents picked me up from the train station for a long weekend visit. I sat in the backseat, listening to them complain about traffic or notice a new building construction out the window.

"I met someone," I say.

They both look back at me through the rear view mirror. My father's eyebrow rises.

"His name is Elijah."

"Is he Jewish?"

"Well he's North African, actually, from Guyana."

I don't remember if the car stopped, the breaks slammed, or my father's heart exploded first. I sat back with a dull ache that would only grow in intensity from there.

My father is not alone. The exploding heart is, unfortunately, not uncommon, and not only reserved for the admittedly small-minded. Parents who grew up fighting for racial equality find themselves becoming social frauds as their beloved children fulfill the ideals that they fostered. This cognitive dissonance is confusing and painful. The progress that I would like to think we have made over the last 50 years as a country is ephemeral and fuzzy, punctuated by a silence that does not quite recognize the underbelly of Baby Boomers who hold onto racist ideals, disguised as tradition, whispering softly, or screaming loudly, behind white fences and closed doors.

These doors remain locked to outsiders, to cultural trespassers, not allowed in on this secret conversation meant to preserve and protect the purity of races over time, a chilling and terrifying echo that booms during the holidays toward unwanted visitors, and stops and frisks those who get too close.

In my family this threat, this trespasser, is Elijah, the man that I love. The root of the backlash against interracial couples by white families is the ugliest racism of all, I believe -- a racism where white people whisper from ear to ear that their privilege be preserved in their physicality -- that their white bodies never mix with brown bodies.

As long as their skin remains white, they remain powerful. And when non-white families stand against interracial couples it seems different to me -- perhaps more about remaining present in the landscape, stopping the white washing from pushing out further and in more damaging ways.

When I think about it, though, my parents never whispered or screamed. Perhaps what is most disturbing is that my father, especially, has always been the perfect picture of love to me. I grew up watching him clean up our neighborhood, run a non profit, and work 35 years as a public school teacher, he himself of a humble background.

He welcomed people; he taught me to welcome people.

Everything seems like a knife stabbing me backward, our strained conversations now dangling between “The world won't understand!” and “What if you have children?” and “Wasn't it understood?” My father wanted me to pick up on the hate that he never demonstrated, and wants to call it tradition or an unspoken rule now that it has surfaced. These questions he asks me seem like an apology, confused himself by how deeply the racial divides in our country have become.

This reality does escape me. I am often battling between the struggle for love and the struggle for racial equality, forging a war that could result in the loss of one family to pursue another.

This mental anguish we experience as a couple, this hatred toward Elijah and I, is also common. We are not just an Italian American woman who fell in love with a Sudanese man, but a canvas for others to throw their ignorance and hate and pain. It's always present. I watch the comments on YouTube concerning an innocent Cheerios commercial pile up with scathing intensity. I hear my mother grow silent when I mention Elijah's name, wondering how he could possibly understand me or us. I watch old Italian men on the train stare at us with disdain that could break a heart.

I feel enraged when a young lady in the park walks over to me and makes a racist comment about the attire of a young man near her that neither of us knows. I shake as my older brother tells me Elijah better be perfect if we get married since all his faults will be placed under a racial magnifying glass, and scream when my younger brother says it's no big deal, he'd certainly think about dating someone outside his race, if it weren't for his parents. The sincerity in his eyes let's me know he's actually looking up to me.

I see Elijah become irate when his aunt mentions that our child would have good hair. I yell and throw the phone when my Nonna, who lives in Northern Italy, tells me that the white race is clearly superior, and I should know that. I silently cry in the coffee shop that just outside of two Caribbean women have stopped Elijah asking him how he could date such a ducky white girl.

We have come a long way, they all say. Don't go backwards, they say. We struggle to please each person in our lives, while still forging a space together, mindful of each reminder that what we are doing is much bigger than us, and we damn well better know it.

I find myself confronting my privilege as a white person daily, and when Elijah doesn't want to talk about it, or brushes it off with experience, I fall to the narrative I was born into, othering him for not understanding my pain. I admit my own racism, I wonder if I am a part of the problem, if I am not asserting myself enough as an advocate, and to what extent I should even be speaking out. When a girl comes with her father to look at a free room in our apartment, I see years of history in the way this white man's face drops when Elijah enters the living room of the space he calls home.

This is what I can't understand, no matter how much I try to fight for our love through tears, and yelling at my parents, and tossing in agony when I am alone. I can't understand what it feels like to not be white in a white world. And I never will.

But should I give up? If I stop trying to understand, I am admitting my weakness, as I watch Elijah handle such hatred with grace, shaking the hand of this man in our living room, teaching me that the fight is all we actually have. I'm tired of living in secrecy so my parents can sleep better at night. I am tired of being unsure and brushing the relationship off to people who don't understand. I am tired of pretending not to hear racist comments from guests at family parties. I don't want to hold back any more tears when my brother whispers of course Elijah is welcome here, in the same soft, unspoken whisper, that has also served to keep him out of our home for so long.

Elijah suggests we attend Orphan Thanksgiving, or Reject Christmas this year, self-named gatherings of friends in Brooklyn, who have also become trespassers to their families' homes, because of their lifestyle choices. He even suggests that we host one ourselves and invite people over to be a part of the space we are trying to create.

He says this all with a tinge of pain, because he doesn't want to pull me from my family, but can't help but want to stop them from pulling me from him. I realize that in a world that categorizes, and polarizes, and stops and frisks, that creating family and spaces of love is the most inspiring way that we can fight. We can't stop the culture that spins around us in contradictions. But we can notice the moments of pause in the chaos, the moments where we feel home.

Even in the city where we met, one layered with a history of police brutality, we have elected a mayor whose family represents change and equality and a small glimpse of the future that we want. It's not perfect, it's not without a lot of pain, but it's a start.

Staying on the phone for hours with my Dad, trying to change his mind, is tiring, and confusing and emotionally draining -- I have found, through my relationship, the best way to stand up at the holiday table and say this is the man I love is by putting that love out toward the world with our presence as a couple: posting our photos on Instagram, telling our story, learning about each others' cultures with delicate care in solidarity, standing together as the symbol others have made of us, never shying away from the tide that pushes back.

We can fight by welcoming others, just as my family somehow taught me as a child, into our space, so like no one feels like a trespasser in our presence. Maybe, someday, tradition will be called racism, the stops and frisks will never go unnoticed, the whisper in American homes will stop -–and the doors will swing open, or at least creak to take notice of some relentless and steady fight for equality happening on the outside.

If I have to spend the holiday away from one family, it's only to ensure the future of another, and the thought that maybe they will eventually meet somewhere, with love and understanding, in the space between the fight

White Guy Films Knockout Game Attack On Black Man, Gets Charged With Hate Crime

original
So much for the “knockout game” being an “exclusive hobby” for young black males.
Conrad Alvin Barrett, a white male in Texas, was arrested by federal authorities after allegedly filming himself punching a 79-year-old black male and breaking his jaw. Police say the 27-year-old was trying to see if the knockout attack on a black victim would garner media attention.
He has subsequently been charged with a hate crime.
But authorities found out about the attack in a pretty unconventional way — Barrett told them himself.
Barrett allegedly showed the video to a man outside a restaurant who he didn’t realize was an off-duty investigator. In the video, the attacker approaches the elderly African-American man, asks him “How’s it going, man?” and proceeds to punch him before laughing, saying “knockout” and fleeing in a vehicle.
According to the federal complaint, in another video found on his cell phone, Barrett allegedly says that African-Americans “haven’t fully experienced the blessing of evolution” and uses the n-word. The complaint alleges Barrett said he had been trying to get up the “courage” to play the knockout game for a week.
Barrett’s attorney, George Parnham, didn’t respond to a request to comment about his client, only mentioning he is currently in jail and has bipolar disorder.
He’s set to appear in court on Friday and faces a maximum of 10 years and a $250,000 fine if convicted.

Kim Kardashian And Kanye West Shopping
You have to be a special kind of girl to get Christmas gifts from Kanye West, and you’d have to be Kim Kardashian to actually get away with being able to wear them. Yesterday while the world was hitting the stores to return their Christmas gifts, KimYe were out buying more as they hit up a sport store in Los Angeles.
Kim was beaming in her shopping get up that included a  Céline Fall 2013 Coat paired with white Denim Skinnies, $618 Saint Laurent Paris Suede Pumps, and the icing on the cake, an Hermés Custom George Condo Hand Painted Birkin.
If the work of art looks familiar, it’s because Condo is the artist that produced the visuals for Kanye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album, the same one that was banned from Walmart and Target that resulted in the blurred cover Kanye eventually released. Yeezy’s Twitter Icon is also a work of art from Condo as the artist has prior produced 5 pieces for Yeezy, making this Birkin bag his 6th. In Kim’s personalized painting, she is straddled by the very image from Kanye’s album work.

Black Woman Writes Book Advising Sisters to Marry Jewish Men

I’m seeing a lot of dating and advice books from black women who are interracially married, and I must say I’m glad to see it. Folks can get on their high horses if they want to, but the truth of the matter is, black women have been given HORRIBLE dating advice for decades, which has contributed to our sorry social lives. So please, no “special snowflakes” coming in to brag about how they have absolutely no trouble at all snagging Brad Pitt’s doppelgänger just by “being themselves.” That might be nice for you, but I’d venture to say that the majority of black women have not a clue how to date effectively to land the man that they deserve and deserves them. And while I haven’t reviewed the following book, I’ll put it forth because I want black women to finally, FINALLY wake up and realize they have more options than they realize.

The latest book is unapologetically called, “Why Every Black Woman Should Marry A Jewish Man.”

Now, I get that the titles of some of these new books put people off, and I think the authors could be a bit more creative in that department. But from a Google search standpoint, it’s effective in pairing the people who want to learn about interracial dating but are clueless on how to start.

I think that what it boils down to is that women (myself included) who have found good mates with certain types of men that remain elusive to many black women see how lonely our friends and family are and want to lend insight. We want you to be happy. We want you to be fulfilled. We don’t want you waiting and waiting and waiting for that black unicorn with silver sparkles that ‘da lawd’ will deliver to your door via Federal Express. Of course other black blogs are having a field day twisting themselves into pretzels to mammy for the cause of “the precious,” but those voices will soon be quieted as more and more black women get the memo and get out of Dodge City/Blackistan. Of course not every black man is a “scumbag” Veronica, but let’s not be naive.

Hines-Starr’s, um, black and white take on dating and marriage professes that where many African-American men “and other non-Jewish men” fall short in the dating and romance department, and how Jewish men are a cut above, in her opinion.

After dating solely within her own race and religion throughout college, graduate school and the whole of her twenties, Nazaree experienced an accumulation of what she refers to in her book as her “Scumbag Files.” Feeling disappointed in black men and still searching for Mr. Right, Nazaree decided to cast a wider net. She joined the interracial dating website, AfroRomance.com, where she met Michael, a professional, never-married Jewish man who was two years her junior.

In “Why Every Black Woman Should Marry A Jewish Man,” Nazaree Hines-Starr chronicles her intimate, tumultuous and eye opening journey that led to finding her “Jewish Prince Charming,” with a tongue-in-cheek chapter in her book titled, “Why It’s Time To Take A Dip In The Snow.”

Some of Nazaree’s theories break down to cold hard statistics. “According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there were 1.8 million more black women than black men in 2000, and that number has not improved since then. That means that if every black man in America married a black woman today, many women hoping to marry a black man would not make it down the aisle.”

Why Jewish Men?

Using tidy bullet points to highlight the merits of Jewish men, Nazaree states: “Jewish Men Open Wide Instead of Down Low; Jewish Men Are NOT Looking For Someone To Take Care Of Them; Jewish Men Attend And Graduate From College; Jewish Men At Least Attempt To Marry Before Making Babies; Jewish Men Are Great With Financial Planning And Stability; Jewish Males Don’t Take Everything As A Challenge To Their Masculinity.” Nazaree’s dating advice in a nutshell: “If he doesn’t call when he said he would call, just assume he’s a liar. Don’t waste your time trying to figure out what’s going on; just move on and then go find a Jewish guy to date.” “The Jewish way of dating,” according to Nazaree Hines-Starr, “explores the phenomenon of falling in love, except with some common sense.” Nazaree’s book concludes that Jewish men “receive extensive training in manhood” and “are often raised with traditional gender roles where the men seek to take care of the women.” “Why Every Black Woman Should Marry A Jewish Man” by Nazaree Hines-Starr is available in paperback on Amazon.com and for Kindle tablets, and at barnesandnoble.com. Dr. Nazaree Hines-Starr PharmD, is a full time pharmacist and author living in Annapolis, Maryland with her Jewish husband, Michael. Hines-Starr was inspired to write “Why Every Black Woman Should Marry A Jewish Man” after finding true love with her Jewish husband. Nazaree received her undergraduate degree from Ohio State University and her Doctorate in Pharmacy from Howard University’s College of Pharmacy. Nazaree Hines-Starr, 41, and her Jewish husband, Michael Starr, 39, are raising their son Hayden “culturally Jewish,” according to the author.

I can't be attracted to any Nigerian man-Actress Chioma Toplis

The actress who married a Briton replied when asked if she gets tempted by Nollywood boys........
I met my husband in Nigeria 18 years ago. I met him at a party that was organised by my friend’s company. He said he liked the way I was laughing. I did not even notice his presence because I was very young and naive at the time.I am not tempted. I hardly come out so there is no question of male attention. I am married to my business and people hardly see me outside.  Men can only be attracted to me when they see me. I hardly go to parties when I am in Nigeria. As a matter of fact, there is no man here that I can be attracted to.

Chris Brown To Karrueche Tran: ‘I’m Thankful For You’

Chris Brown understandably hasn’t been in the highest of spirits since heading back to rehab to address his anger management issues. Thankfully, he has a devoted girlfriend to cheer him up. And on Thanksgiving Day, Karrueche Tran went all out for a dinner that got so emotional that she was brought to tears!

Karrueche Tran Makes Loving Thanksgiving Meal For Chris Brown

Chris wasn’t in the comforts of his own house on Nov. 28, but Karrueche brought home to him — and she did not skimp, a source tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively.
“She made him everything,” the source says. “She brought the boy a home-cooked turkey, yams, cranberry stuffing, black-eyed peas — the works.” KT even smartly overcooked so that Chris could have leftovers for days.
There’s really nothing more romantic than cooking for a significant other, and Karrueche’s all-out Thanksgiving feast definitely brought her and Chris closer together.
“He was thankful and real receptive to her,” the source continued. “He told her, ‘Babe, I’m thankful for everything that is you. Thanks for looking after me and I love you.’”
Chris professed his love and gratefulness all while on his knees, according to the source, and his emotional words were enough to bring Karrueche to tears. “She was completely moved by what he said,” added the insider. “She said she couldn’t stop crying and that her hands were shaking.”
It must be nearly impossible for Karrueche and Chris to be apart during this difficult time, and it must be even harder for Karrueche to see her boyfriend struggle. But clearly they’re both there for each other, and together they can get through anything.
That really is something to be thankful for

White supremacist Craig Cobb arrested after 'patrolling' North Dakota town with a shotgun

Cobb and Kynan Dutton are being detained in Mercer County jail after allegedly intimidating residents in the Leith community
Craig Cobb before he is detained in custody Craig Cobb, a self-proclaimed white supremacist who was recently told he was 14 per cent of Sub-Saharan-African heritage has been detained by police, after North Dakota residents said he had confronted them with a shotgun.
Cobb and another man, Kynan Dutton, were arrested when they began patrolling the small town of Leith with a rifle and a shotgun, threatening and intimidating residents there. Dutton's wife Deborah was also present and followed the two men, recording their activities on a mobile phone. Grant County Sheriff Steve Bay said the men are now being held at the Mercer County Jail in Stanton, according to The Bismark Tribune, while the sheriff's office gathers evidence to bring charges against the two men. Leith City Councilman Lee Cook was involved in the incident on Saturday, the newspaper reported. He said he had just arrived at his home when Cobb and Dutton approached his property with guns. He claimed Dutton had his finger on the trigger of the rife, but it was not pointed directly at him. Prior to his arrest, Cobb allegedly sent this message to the Tribune: "Because of the many violences (sic) and harassments against we (sic) and the children, we have commenced armed patrols of Leith." In a second text message to the newspaper, Cobb allegedly said he also plans to rename some of his property the "Adolph (sic) Hitler Pvt. Park of Leith." Sixty-two-year-old neo-nazi Cobb claims he follows the 'Creator' religion which “favours racial awareness” and has been attempting to create a “white enclave” in North Dakota by quietly buying up land in Leith, despite anti-racism rallies and town meetings against his plans. He submitted his DNA as part of host Trisha Goddard's Race in America series, who gave him the results to a delighted audience, telling Cobb: “You have a little Black in you”. However, Cobb can be heard dismissing the results as “statistical noise” and refused to fist bump with her. The married father-of-three was already notorious for his infamous far-right 'Podblanc' video sharing site because YouTube bans racist content.

Racist serial killer facing execution in Missouri

No one knows exactly how many atrocities Joseph Paul Franklin committed as he crossed the country more than three decades ago, fueled by hatred of blacks and Jews. Along the way he bombed a synagogue, robbed banks, shot and wounded a porn icon — and killed, by his own account, nearly two dozen people.
Even among the hard-core criminals on Missouri’s death row, Franklin is perhaps the most notorious, a cunning killer who picked out victims at random, using marksman skills to murder and maim from a hidden spot in a vacant building, a grassy field and a highway overpass. “All of his acts were kind of cowardly,” said St. Louis County prosecutor Bob McCulloch, whose prosecution sent Franklin to death row. “He just hid in the weeds and shot people.” Franklin, 63, is scheduled to be put to death at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, the first execution in nearly three years in Missouri and the first in the state to use a single drug, pentobarbital. His attorney, Jennifer Herndon, said he is a paranoid schizophrenic who was badly abused as a child. She has asked federal and state courts and Gov. Jay Nixon to intervene. So far, all have declined. Franklin has told media outlets that he now regrets his crimes after getting to know black inmates in prison. “He’s done a complete 180 as far as his views,” Herndon said. “He believes he should be kept alive so he could help other people overcome their racist views.” Franklin, born in Mobile, Ala., in 1950, was influenced after reading a stolen copy of Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” as a child. By his 20s he was an avowed white supremacist and a small-time criminal drifting across America. It wasn’t long before the crimes took a deadly turn. He bombed a synagogue in Chattanooga, Tenn., in July 1977. A Sabbath service let out just before the bomb exploded, and no one was hurt. The first of Franklin’s known victims were Alphonse Manning, a black high school janitor, and Toni Schwenn, Manning’s white girlfriend, killed in Madison, Wis., during a 1977 road rage encounter with Franklin. Months later, Franklin staked out a synagogue in suburban St. Louis. On Oct. 8, 1977, he carried his hunting rifle in a guitar case to a grassy field nearby, where he hammered 10-inch nails into the side of telephone pole to steady the gun. As guests gathered in the parking lot to say goodbye after a bar mitzvah at Brith Sholom Kneseth Israel synagogue, Franklin fired five shots. One struck and killed Gerald Gordon, 42. “It was a frightening crime because it was random,” McCulloch said. Franklin hopped on a bike, rode to his waiting car and sped away. The case was unsolved until Franklin confessed while in federal prison nearly 20 years later. Of all his crimes, it’s the only one that led to a death sentence. Franklin’s cross-country crime spree continued for three years after the synagogue killing. He robbed banks — authorities suspect as many as 16 — to fund his travels. He has been convicted of seven murders, but has taken responsibility for at least 13 others. Franklin had a particular dislike for interracial couples. In addition to the killings in Wisconsin, he was convicted of shooting a black man and a white woman in Chattanooga in 1978. The man died and the woman was paralyzed. He reportedly killed a couple in Oklahoma City in 1979, and another couple in Johnstown, Pa., in 1980. He confessed to killing a 15-year-old prostitute because the girl had black customers. Other victims were more random. He was convicted of killing two black cousins, ages 13 and 14, in 1980 in Cincinnati, shooting from a highway overpass as the boys walked to a convenience store. He reportedly killed three female hitchhikers — one in Wisconsin, two in West Virginia. In Salt Lake City in August 1980, Franklin hid in a field and shot and killed two young men about to go jogging with two teenage white girls. Franklin was caught for good about two months later in Florida. Herndon said no one really knows how many crimes Franklin has committed. “A lot of times he claims responsibility for stuff that there’s no evidence or proof of,” Herndon said. “I suspect he didn’t kill as many people as he’s confessed to killing, but there’s no way to know for sure.” Franklin also confessed to shooting Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt. In March 1978, Flynt was in Lawrenceville, Ga., on trial on an obscenity charge. Franklin, enraged by a Hustler photo of an interracial couple, staked out a spot in an abandoned building near the Gwinnett County Courthouse, fired a shot that left Flynt paralyzed from the waist down. Amid the chaos of the shooting, Franklin got away. Franklin was in federal prison in Marion, Ill., in 1994 when he confessed. Gwinnett County, Ga., District Attorney Danny Porter is convinced Franklin was the shooter. “He’s very specific about the weapon. He describes the caliber and manufacturer of the gun,” Porter said. “He talks about certain structural details of the building that are consistent with where the shots came from. There’s no reason not to believe he did it.” But by then, with Franklin imprisoned on multiple murder counts, Porter decided not to file charges. Ironically, Flynt has become one of the most vocal opponents of executing Franklin. Flynt, 71, told The Associated Press that while he hasn’t forgiven Franklin, he doesn’t think capital punishment is the answer. “I’ve got to think about this guy every day, every day that I get in this wheelchair. It would be easy for me to say, ‘Yeah, kill him, he shouldn’t be on the Earth.’ ” Flynt said. “But if you analyze that decision, it’ll always come up short.”
